In April 2012 it was time for another trip to Greece, this time together with my good friend Espen, a tortoise-connoisseur and the guy behind Landskilpadde.no. We had several goals on this trip. For me it was to see and photograph more Vipera ammodytes, and for Espen it was to observe tortoises in the wild, and register weight, length on wild specimens and what they eat.
We flew from Bergen to Korfu, and travelled from Korfu to Parga where we spent the first half of the week. By chance we met Benny Trapp, and he gave us many very good hints and tips on herping in Greece. And he also joined us herping for the rest of this day. A day that gave us several vipers and other nice species. A couple of days later we also took the trip up in the mountains, to Metsovo to search for Fire salamanders (Salamandra salamandra), but no luck. We then travelled to Korfu again, and drove around on this beautiful island looking for reptiles – and we saw plenty!
